Save A Limb again

We attended the Rubin Institude for Advanced Orthopedics (RIAO) Save A Limb fundraiser again this year. Last time we attended was 3 years ago(which you can read here by going back to Oct 2012 post) and it felt good to go back!

This year JP was old enough to enjoy it in its fullness. The theme around this year was Batman, which JP is also really into right now.

It was a beautiful day and a day to remember an amazing man- Lenny Robinson. He was known as Baltimore's Batman.  He would go around to MD hospitals dressed as Bartman and brought many smiles to kids who were sick or undergoing surgery. We had the pleasure of meeting him at our first Save A Limb event in 2012

Unfortunately he passed away this summer while helping someone else. Rest in Peace Lenny, a True Superhero

The event was great to attend- it was nice to be surrounded by people who didn't stare because your kid had a brace and it was nice to have siblings use to seeing others  who might be "differnet"

And the kids had fun with all the activities that were planned

I got to connect with other FH families. Some families we met a few times and some we only met online, but all feel like family and can relate to our daily lives like no one else.

All in all, it was another amazing event and it happened to be 4 years to the day that we found out about JPs FH. So thanks from the bottom of our heart to all those who donated to Miles for JP over the years, your money is doing amazing work for kids who might not have had the chance to spend life with their own limbs!
